Frankfort Fire Protection District Meeting | September 2025

The Frankfort Fire Protection District Board of Trustees unanimously passed a significant update to its fire prevention codes on Tuesday, specifically addressing new technologies like solar farms and battery storage. The board also received positive news on hiring, with strong interest in both new and promotional positions. For more details, see our full story on the fire code ordinance.

In other business, trustees approved a new community engagement initiative, discussed equipment updates, and heard praise for the department’s participation in community events. The board also entered a closed session to discuss the search for a new permanent fire chief.

Bills Totaling $261,287 Approved
The board unanimously approved the payment of bills from the Fire Service and Ambulance Fund, totaling $261,287.22. The motion was made by Trustee Justin Lohrens and seconded by Trustee Patricia Field, passing after a roll call vote.

Ambulance Fleet Updates Continue
Interim Fire Chief Paul Kinsella reported that the re-chassis of a current ambulance is nearly “in-service.” Two new ambulance rigs are on schedule but may require one to two months to be fully equipped and ready for operation. The department borrowed an ambulance from another agency to ensure adequate coverage during the recent Fall Fest.

Public Safety Day Scheduled for Oct. 4
LT/PM Zach Pavesich announced that Public Safety Day will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Home Depot in Frankfort. The event will include a “touch-a-truck” display, and the fire district will be joined by the ATF, Will County Sheriff’s Office, and State Fire Marshal dogs.

Fire Chief Search Discussed
The board entered a closed session at 5:37 p.m. to discuss the “Executive Search and Assessment Process for Fire Chief Replacement.” The board reconvened its public meeting at 6:06 p.m. and announced that no action was taken as a result of the closed-door discussion.

Trustees Praise Fall Fest Presence
Trustees lauded the fire district’s presence at Frankfort’s Fall Fest. Trustee Justin Lohrens gave a “large ‘shout out'” to Jen Adcock for her work and praised the Fire Cadets. Trustees Patricia Field and James McGeever, Jr. agreed, calling the cadets “top shelf.” Trustee Nicholas Spano added that the “Special Needs” night at the festival was a great success.

Station 72 Floor Repairs Planned
Interim Fire Chief Paul Kinsella reported that floors at Station 72 are scheduled to be repaired on October 6-7. The district’s electronic sign boards have also been replaced and are reportedly working well.
