The Frankfort Township Board on Monday, March 9, 2026, discussed an array of upcoming community services, including the timeline for the new township food pantry and the heavy demand for free AARP tax preparation.

During the board comments portion of the meeting, Supervisor Nick George provided an update on the popular AARP tax services currently being offered to residents. George noted that the AARP is actively working on taxes and that many people are taking advantage of the free filing program.

The service has been so well-received that the township currently has a waiting list. Following discussion among the board, a suggestion was made to explore expanding the service in the future to better accommodate the high demand.

George also reminded residents that the downstairs portion of the township building will be temporarily closed for senior services to accommodate voting for the primary election on Tuesday, March 17.

Progress is also continuing on the township’s new food pantry. While officials noted there has been a “small hold-up” regarding permits for the facility, the wheels remain in motion and demolition work is expected to begin soon.

As residents prepare for spring yard work, the township confirmed that branch pickup and mulch availability will officially begin on the first Monday in May. Clerk Nella Piccolin praised the program, remarking to the board that the provided mulch is “phenomenal.”
