The Frankfort Village Board on Monday, March 16, 2026, authorized a contract with Chicago-based Algat Enterprises Group Co. Inc. for the construction of a detached storage garage at 2 Smith Street.
Algat Enterprises submitted the lowest responsible and responsive bid of $150,777.00 to build the concrete pad and garage shell, which will be located at the west end of the newly constructed Village-owned parking lot.
The new facility replaces a former cabinet factory building on the site that was recently demolished. The old building had been utilized by the Village to store event materials and police equipment serving the downtown area and the Old Plank Road Trail, while also acting as a staging and restroom area for law enforcement during large-scale downtown events.
According to a village memo, the total project has a capital budget of $185,000.00. Following the completion of the garage shell by Algat Enterprises, Village staff will utilize the remaining project funds to complete the exterior stonework, interior buildout, landscaping, and a screened trash enclosure on the south side of the building.
The project is anticipated to be completed prior to the start of the summer Country Market season. The contract was approved 6-0 as part of the Village’s unanimous consent agenda.
