At the Frankfort Village Board meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, officials celebrated a major athletic achievement by local students. Mayor Keith Ogle announced that the Lincoln-Way East Varsity Cheerleaders captured the IHSA state title on Saturday, February 7, in Bloomington.
The team won the Class 3A title with a score of 97.92.
“The team earned a Class 3A title with an exceptional score,” Mayor Ogle said. “This marks the eighth state championship for the Griffin program.”
Trustees echoed the congratulations, with Trustee Adam Borrelli noting the program’s consistency, having won eight titles since 2014. Trustee Michael Leddin expressed amazement at the number of championship teams produced by the community.
