-
Levy Approval: The board voted unanimously to approve Ordinance 25-12 for the 2025 Tax Levy.

The Frankfort Park District Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, approved the district’s 2025 tax levy, finalizing a financial measure aimed at capitalizing on local development.
Before the regular board vote, Board President Michael McCarey convened a Truth in Taxation public hearing at 7:24 p.m. During the hearing, Executive Director Gina Hassett presented the annual ordinance and resolution to the board.
Hassett explained the financial strategy behind the levy request. She noted that although the levy reflects an additional 5% increase, “it is not increasing taxes.” Instead, the measure allows the Frankfort Park District to capture tax revenue generated by any newly constructed buildings within the district’s boundaries.
No members of the public offered comments or questions during the hearing, which was closed at 7:25 p.m.
Following the hearing, Commissioner Elmer Gentry made a motion to approve Ordinance 25-12 for the 2025 Tax Levy. The motion was seconded and approved by a unanimous roll call vote of 5-0, with Commissioners Gentry, Tom Barz, Tom Ruvoli, Mark Ponton, and President McCarey voting in favor.
The board subsequently approved Resolution 25-12, which instructs the County Clerk on the apportionment of the 2025 Tax Levy. This measure also passed with a unanimous 5-0 vote.
