A celebratory atmosphere marked the January 12, 2026, meeting of the Frankfort Village Board as officials honored a long-serving police officer and a prominent local business.

Mayor Keith Ogle administered the oath of office to Mark Thompson, promoting him to the rank of sergeant. Thompson, a Lincoln-Way East graduate who joined the force in 2008, was recognized for his diverse service record, including roles as a field training officer, evidence technician, and neighborhood patrol officer.

“I want to thank all my friends, family, co-workers… everybody has helped guide me to where I am today,” Sergeant Thompson said after his badge pinning ceremony, specifically thanking his wife and daughters for their support.

Later in the meeting, the board recognized Phillips Chevrolet for achieving the title of number one volume Chevy dealer for the 20th consecutive year. General Manager Mike Maheras and his team were present for the acknowledgement. Mayor Ogle called the streak an “amazing accomplishment,” while Trustee Borrelli compared the dealership’s consistent success to a sports dynasty.

The Mayor also announced the upcoming 5th Annual Fire & Ice Winter Social, set for Saturday, January 31, from noon to 2:00 p.m. in downtown Frankfort. The event will feature ice carving, bonfires, and a chili cook-off open to both amateur cooks and professionals.
