Frankfort School District 157-C Meeting | Nov. 2025

The Frankfort School District 157-C Board of Education met on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to review academic performance data, set the annual tax levy, and honor a fallen staff member. Vice President Dr. Larry Kociolek called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

Grand Prairie Staff Recognized
Administration recognized Grand Prairie Elementary staff members for their teamwork during a recent student medical emergency. Specifically, Mrs. Szudy shared that custodian Chad Burvant performed the Heimlich maneuver on a student who was choking during lunch. The student recovered from the incident.

Run Club Success
The board recognized the top 10 runners from the Fall Run Club. Mr. Vandenberg reported that the Grand Prairie club is the longest-running club at the school, with 178 kids participating this season.

Personnel Moves
The board approved several personnel changes. Notably, David Bravo was hired as a custodian at Chelsea Intermediate School effective November 3, 2025. The board also accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Angela Frazier and Special Education Teacher Erin Lucin.

Veterans Day Activities
In his Superintendent’s Report, Dr. Doug Wernet highlighted the Veterans Day programs held across all three schools. He praised the staff and community for their involvement in Honor Flight Chicago, noting that the Hickory Creek community raised over $8,300 to donate to the organization this year.

Lincoln-Way Area Special Education Update
The Lincoln-Way Area Special Education (LWASE) Advisory Committee minutes from October noted that Dr. Scott Tingley took members of the Southern Will County Cooperative for Special Education (SOWIC) on a tour of Lincoln-Way North. The minutes indicated SOWIC needs more space, and it “would be possible” to lease space to them at the North campus.
