The Frankfort Public Library District Board of Trustees met on Thursday, November 20, 2025, to handle annual financial audits, building renovation updates, and policy revisions. The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Look. All trustees were present except for Trustee Miner; Trustee Evenhouse arrived during the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
The board’s primary actions included the acceptance of the FY24-25 audit showing a net position increase of $498,000 and the approval of the Donation Policy. Discussions regarding building renovations highlighted potential cost savings on permits and the completion of HVAC work under budget.
Eagle Scout Project Proposal:
The board received a proposal from a local Eagle Scout looking for community work. The project involves creating lattices with vines for the wall near the meeting room, a suggestion that originated from The Conservation Foundation.
Friends of the Library Fundraising:
During public comment, Jeff Slovak reported that the Friends of the Library’s November art market was highly successful, earning $2,600. The group has launched its membership drive and announced an upcoming fundraiser at the Mokena Oberweis, where 20% of orders will be donated to the Friends for an outreach vehicle.
Temporary Community Pantry:
Director Kowalcze reported on the status of the temporary community pantry. The pantry is currently addressing a pause in SNAP benefits. Trustee Evenhouse later commended the staff for their agility and thoughtfulness in starting the pantry to assist community members in need.
2026 Calendars Approved:
The board voted unanimously to approve both the Library operational calendar and the Board of Trustees meeting calendar for the year 2026. The motions were made by Trustee Stenoish and Trustee Evenhouse, respectively.
