Representatives from local scouting and athletic organizations touted a year of service and growth during the Frankfort Square Park District Board of Commissioners meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2025.

Jack Dilner, Senior Patrol Leader for BSA Troop 237, reported on a highly successful “Scouting for Food” drive. The troop collected 73,000 pounds of food to support those in need. Dilner also highlighted the troop’s adventures, including a “high-adventure” Sea Base program where scouts lived aboard a boat for three days. Over the past year, three scouts achieved the rank of Eagle, and the troop collectively earned 130 merit badges.

Troop 732, represented by Scouts Bella Orlando and Suzie Wheatley, highlighted their own adventures, including trips to Minnesota and an upcoming expedition to Mexico.

Sports organizations also reported strong participation numbers. Mike Przysucha of the Frankfort Square Wildcats Football & Cheer program noted that overall membership increased from 120 participants in 2024 to 140 in 2025.

Przysucha highlighted the specific growth in the flag football program, which rose from 52 players in 2024 to 62 this year. He noted that following the introduction of women’s flag football as an Olympic sport, the Wildcats are seeing girls participate in their program. Additionally, the Wildcats’ cheer organization, which includes five teams, is preparing to compete at the State level in Champaign.

Kirk Savary, outgoing President of the Frankfort Square Baseball League (FSBL), reported that the league now serves more than 400 children. He credited the Park District partnership for allowing the merger of softball and baseball programs and the installation of two new scoreboards.

“When other football organizations visit the Wildcats facilities, they are recognized as being second to none,” said volunteer Jim Zawilinski, thanking the board for their support.
