FRANKFORT – The Frankfort Village Board on Monday, December 1, 2025, approved an ordinance granting multiple zoning variances for a residential property at 18 E. Bowen Street.

Property owners Dean and Laura Slager requested the variances to accommodate a 900-square-foot addition to their existing 1,758-square-foot two-story house, as well as the construction of a new detached garage.

“The applicant subsequently withdrew the height variance request and submitted revised plans for a detached garage that complies with village regulations,” noted Trustee Michael Leddin, referring to an earlier request to increase the garage height that was denied by the Plan Commission.

The approved variances allow the homeowners to use non-masonry materials on the first floor of the addition. Additionally, the Board authorized a slight reduction in the side yard setback to 9 feet, 11 inches, and a reduction of the accessory structure setback to 6 feet along the eastern property line.

The approval is subject to the condition that the homeowners pay a required preservation tree removal fee of $900 or plant replacement trees prior to the issuance of building permits.
