While the presentation of the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 audit was tabled due to the auditor’s absence, the board moved forward with approvals for monthly bills and policy revisions. Significant time was dedicated to the Reading Room Project, with the board reviewing landscaping challenges and establishing a timeline for the bidding process. News Briefs

Annual Audit Tabled:
The presentation of the FY24–25 Financial Audit by Illinois NFP Audit & Tax, LLP was tabled because the auditor was unable to attend the meeting. The presentation has been rescheduled for the November meeting.

Finance Committee Notes Accounting Software Weakness:
During the Finance Committee report, it was noted that the auditor identified a “material weakness” related to tracking required by Government Accounting Standard Board No. 34. Jeff Slovak, liaison for the Friends of the Library, reported that the October book sale resulted in a profit of $2,150. Slovak also mentioned upcoming events, including a winter art market and a fundraiser with Oberweis in Mokena scheduled for December 3 to raise funds for an outreach vehicle.

Preschool Fair to Return:
Under Youth Services updates, it was announced that the Preschool Fair will return in January. The decision to reinstate the event was based on patron feedback.

Building Maintenance Updates:
The board confirmed that the removal of a Cypress tree on the property has been completed. Additionally, the floor in the Sorting Room has been replaced.
