Frankfort School District 157-C is taking steps to plan for the future, hiring an outside firm to conduct a detailed enrollment study, Superintendent Dr. Doug Wernet announced on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
During his report to the Board of Education, Dr. Wernet said the district is moving forward with RSP & Associates for enrollment and facility planning. The firm, which has extensive experience with Illinois school districts, will provide a data-driven process to project future student numbers.
The study will result in a five-year enrollment projection, expected to be completed by January 2026. The projection model will analyze demographic shifts, birth data, economic indicators, and projected growth from new residential developments in Frankfort, Mokena, and New Lenox.
“This analysis will be broken down by building and geographic area and will evaluate implications for school boundaries, capacity utilization, and long-term facility planning,” Wernet’s report stated.
The move comes as the district continues to see growth. Dr. Wernet noted that the district has enrolled 124 new students since last spring. The current total enrollment for the district is 2,632 students across its three schools.
