A new member of the Summit Hill School District 161 (SHSD) Board of Education attended the Frankfort Square Park District meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2025, to reinforce the collaborative relationship between the two community-serving agencies.

Adrian Chavez introduced himself to the park commissioners, noting he was raised in Frankfort Square and is now raising his own family there. As a member of the SHSD Community Outreach Committee, Chavez said he plans to attend park board meetings when possible to strengthen the bond between the school and park districts.

“Mr. Chavez recognized and acknowledged the role the Park District and School District play in providing recreational and educational experiences, respectively, for the children we mutually serve,” the minutes stated. Commissioner Phil Cherry also encouraged Chavez to contact Superintendent of Parks Ed Reidy directly with any maintenance or safety concerns related to park district property near schools.
