Article Summary: The Frankfort Fire Protection District is experiencing a surge in interest for both entry-level and promotional positions, receiving 13 applications for new hires and seeing 13 candidates sign up for the upcoming lieutenant’s test. The district continues to manage staffing challenges, with three members currently on leave due to workers’ compensation claims.

Frankfort Fire District Personnel Key Points:

  • The district has received 13 applications for new firefighter/paramedic positions, with an application deadline of October 3, 2025.

  • Thirteen internal candidates have registered to take the test for the rank of Lieutenant.

  • Interim Fire Chief Paul Kinsella reported that overtime has increased, partly due to three members being on workers’ compensation leave.

The Frankfort Fire Protection District is seeing robust interest in its workforce, with a strong pool of applicants for new positions and a competitive field for internal promotions, Interim Fire Chief Paul Kinsella reported on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

In his personnel report to the Board of Trustees, Kinsella announced that the district has received 13 applications for new hires. He noted that the application deadline is October 3, 2025, and that some of the applicants are from other fire departments.

At the same time, the district is preparing for a promotional process, with 13 internal candidates signed up to take the upcoming lieutenant’s test.

Kinsella also provided an update on staffing challenges, stating that three members are currently off work due to workers’ compensation claims. This has contributed to an increase in overtime shifts needed to maintain staffing levels. On a positive note, one member who had been on “light duty” has returned to regular work duties.

The board also approved four new hires as part of its personnel report: Lisa Lee as a Technology Assistant/SIS Specialist, Breanna Price as a School Nurse, Katie Schubert as a Communications and PR Coordinator, and Crystine Stringfellow as a Paraprofessional.
