Spread the love

The Frankfort Village Board’s meeting on Monday, October 6, 2025, was marked by celebration and new business development. The board dedicated the opening of its meeting to formally honoring the Hickory Creek Middle School Girls’ Softball Team for winning their fifth state championship, presenting the players and coaches with a proclamation. For more details on this recognition, see the full story.

The board also unanimously approved an increase in Class C-1 liquor licenses to accommodate the new Frankfort Chop House, which is scheduled to open in mid-November at the corner of Laraway and Wolf Roads. A separate article provides further information on this business development. Other business included the approval of over $3.75 million in bills and announcements for a slate of community events throughout what the mayor dubbed “Franktober.”

Board Approves Over $3.75 Million in Bills
Trustees unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included a schedule of bills totaling $3,752,196.38. Trustee Michael Leddin reported that a significant portion of the total was a payment of over $2.8 million to P.T. Ferro Construction Co. for the 2025 road resurfacing project, highlighting the village’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure maintenance. The approval also included minutes from the September 22, 2025, regular meeting.

“Franktober” Brings Full Slate of Community Events
Mayor Keith Ogle announced a series of community events scheduled for October. The Frankfort Restaurant Association will host its 2nd Annual Frankforter Oktoberfest on October 10-11 in the downtown area. Other events include the Scary at the Prairie 5K run on October 18, Ghost Stories on the Green on October 24, and the Frankfort Police Department’s annual Safety Trunk or Treat on October 25.

“Men Who Cook” Fundraiser Set for October 11
The board highlighted the 15th annual “Men Who Cook” fundraiser for the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center, scheduled for Saturday, October 11, at the Joliet Junior College Weitendorf Center. Mayor Ogle noted that members of the Frankfort Police Department, who are past winners in the brisket category, will be participating again. Proceeds from the tasting event support the center’s services for children.

Board Comments and Announcements
During board comments, trustees welcomed a new business that was issued a license on Bankview Drive in September and reminded residents of the “9 p.m. routine” to lock car and home doors. The board also welcomed a local Boy Scout troop attending the meeting to learn about local government. Clerk Katie Schubert announced the next Committee of the Whole meeting is on October 8, and the next regular board meeting is October 20.
