Texas Guard arrives in Broadview
Just as a federal judge prepares to hear arguments Thursday morning about the use of the National Guard in Illinois, the village of Broadview announced approximately 45 Texas National Guard soldiers arrived at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility Wednesday night.
A spokesman said local police observed them sleeping in vans and left them undisturbed.
Former governors join case against Trump
Two groups of former governors have filed an amicus brief in federal court supporting the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago in their lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard.
The groups urged the court to grant Illinois’ motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction blocking the deployment.
Most of the ex-governors are Democrats and five are Republicans.
Rockford man charged with abuse materials
A Rockford man has been charged with solicitation of child sex abuse material, grooming, and enticement of a child to remove clothes.
Illinois State Police arrested Nicholas Ortiz-Hansen, 32, on Oct. 8 after conducting a search of his residence the prior week.
