The Frankfort Public Library board on Thursday, August 28, 2025, approved two key maintenance projects, authorizing over $19,700 for heating system upgrades and the removal of a problematic tree.
The larger of the two expenditures is an $18,600 contract awarded to Excel Electric. The funds will be used to remove and replace an air curtain, a vestibule heater, and a baseboard heater in the west end restroom. The library’s Building and Grounds Committee recommended accepting Excel Electric’s proposal after consulting with several electrical firms and determining its bid was the lowest.
Additionally, the board approved a $1,125 proposal from Precise Tree Care. The work involves the removal of a cypress tree located next to the library’s garage. According to board documents, the tree’s roots are causing damage to the building’s foundation and the adjacent parking lot. The Building and Grounds Committee, which reviewed three proposals for the job, recommended Precise Tree Care for its “specificity and clear understanding of the scope of work.”
Both proposals were approved by unanimous roll-call votes of the trustees present. The approvals came after a recommendation from the Building & Grounds Committee, which met on August 20.
