JOLIET, Il. – Joliet Junior College has successfully concluded negotiations with all of its employee unions after the Board of Trustees approved a new collective bargaining agreement with its adjunct faculty on September 10.

The board ratified the agreement with the Joliet United Adjuncts Coalition, IEA-NEA, as part of its consent agenda. Dr. Barbara Will-Henn, representing the adjunct union, expressed her satisfaction with the conclusion of the process.

“Our union negotiations are finished and now they are in your hands,” Dr. Will-Henn told the board. “They have been agreed to by our membership and we hope that you too… will agree to them. We appreciate all that you do for the college.”

JJC President Dr. Clyne Namuo highlighted the milestone, noting the significance of reaching agreements with all campus labor groups.

“I’m very proud that over the three years I’ve been here this will be the sixth and final collective bargaining agreement approved by this board,” Dr. Namuo said. “I think it speaks volumes to… how we treat people as an institution… that we value them, we treat people with dignity and respect and thankful we have the resources to not only negotiate in good faith, but negotiate agreements that benefit both the unions, the administration, and of course… the students.”
