Constitutional amendment would guarantee parental rights

Illinois U.S. Rep. Mary Miller has filed a constitutional amendment to what her office says would permanently establish the “God-given right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children.”

Miller said her Parental Rights Amendment would ensure parents, not the government, hold the ultimate authority and responsibility for the upbringing, education and care of their children.

Twelve million dollars in state taxpayer funds are going to help pay for an expansion of the Morris Municipal Airport.

The new crosswind runway at the airport will increase capacity and safety, enabling up to 40,000 additional touch downs a year. The governor’s office said combined with local funding, the total investment statewide for airports is $105 million.
