The board was scheduled to approve a $91,955 purchase of six new ZOLL cardiac monitors, a critical upgrade for its emergency medical services. For more on this, please see the full story.

The board also began its annual budget process with a presentation of the tentative Fiscal Year 2025 budget by District Accountant James Howard. In separate news, the board scheduled a special meeting for July 25 to discuss a potential referendum with the firefighters’ union.

District to Dispose of 2011 Ambulance Chassis
The board was scheduled to approve Resolution #2025-04, which authorizes the district to dispose of a 2011 Ford F450 ambulance chassis. The vehicle is no longer needed for fire protection purposes. Under state law, public bodies must formally declare property as surplus before it can be sold, auctioned, or otherwise removed from its inventory.

Community Outreach Campaign Update
The board heard an update on its community outreach campaign, which involves a collaborative proposal with a firm named Discovery Works. The Community Outreach committee, consisting of board members Tom Lohrens and Jorge Spano, is overseeing the initiative.

Routine Business Handled
In its consent agenda, the board approved the minutes from its June 17, 2025, regular meeting. It also conducted its semiannual review of closed session minutes and approved the destruction of closed session recordings that are more than 18 months old, as permitted by the Open Meetings Act. The board also approved the monthly Board/Expenditure Report.
