Meeting Summary and Briefs: Frankfort Fire Protection District Board of Trustees for June 10, 2025
The Frankfort Fire Protection District Board of Trustees held a special meeting on June 10 to address two major financial items: the fiscal year budget and a new contract with its firefighters’ union. The board unanimously approved a new collective bargaining agreement with Local 4338 after a closed-session discussion. On the budget front, officials announced a projected $350,000 operating surplus but warned that the capital fund faces a significant deficit if the district proceeds with buying a new fire engine. Garritano Re-appointed Fire Commissioner
The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the re-appointment of Raymond Garritano to the position of Fire Commissioner. The motion was made by Trustee Robert Boll and seconded by Trustee Justin Lohrens. President Nicholas Spano called for a voice vote, and the motion passed with all trustees in favor, ensuring Garritano continues in his role overseeing certain personnel and disciplinary matters for the district.
Ambulance Billing Process Changed
Interim Fire Chief Paul Kinsella informed the board that the district’s ambulance billing is now handled differently. The change occurred after the district’s previous billing company was bought out. In response to the update and a separate report showing that ambulance fee collections were down, Board President Nicholas Spano requested that monthly ambulance collection reports be provided to trustees for their review.
